Plant history

Lavender plants are believed to originate from the Mediterranean, Middle East, and India. Lavender belongs to the genus Lavandula. The history of humans using lavender for healing can be traced back over 2,500 years. In ancient times, lavender was used as a holy herb. Lavender can grow up to 2ft tall and is extremely abundant in France. Over the years over 45 different species of lavender has been discovered with over 450 varieties, they are still studying and researching variations of lavender due to its hybrid orientation in current times.
